Using filters
Dashboards come with a set of default filters, which may vary depending on the specific dashboard.
These default filters, called managed filters, are defined by Tendable and cannot be changed. They are displayed in the filters panel with a padlock icon.
Types of filter
- Single select: for selecting a single value from a dropdown
- Multi select: for selecting one or more values from a dropdown
- Number comparison: for comparing values to a number. For example, this could be used to filter inspections where the score is below a given value.
- Date: for filtering on date columns
Adding a Filter
You can apply additional filters to a dashboard to look at the data more granularly. You can add a filter to any field. To add a new filter to your dashboard:
- Click Add/edit filters and then New dashboard filter
- Select the type of filter
- Select which datasets and which fields that the filter should apply to.
Note: If you are reporting across multiple datasets, you should apply the filter across all datasets. For example, if you are reporting about inspections and actions and want to add a filter by division, you should select the division field on both inspections and actions.
Note: only datasets with at least one chart on the dashboard will appear in the filter options. If a dataset is missing, add a chart related to that dataset first.
Applying and Clearing Filters
To apply a filter, click on the filter and select the desired value. Dropdown filters can be searched using the text box at the top.
To clear a filter value, click the cross button next to the pill with the filter value. For single value filters, click the cross on the right-hand side of the box.
To remove a filter from the dashboard entirely, click "Add/edit filters" and then click the cross button on the filter you want to delete.
