Set up your organisation structure

A one-time, guided setup that gets your units and unit types in place so the rest of Tendable is ready to use.

Who this is for: Admins setting up a new account.

Before you start

You need an Admin role.
You may not need to do this. Tendable often sets up your structure with you during onboarding. If your units are already in place, skip this and go straight to Add, edit, and move a unit.
It helps to have a rough picture ready: the types of unit you have (Ward, Care Home, and so on) and the main units themselves.
This is a once-only setup. After you finish, you manage everything from the Organisation Units and Organisation Unit Types tabs.

Steps

The setup runs in three steps. Until you finish it, this is the only screen you'll see in the Organisation structure area.

1. Select Org Unit Types

Choose the types of unit your organisation uses. Pick from the suggested types, and add your own if you need to. You need at least one to continue.

2. Add Org Units

Add your actual units. For each one, give it a name, choose its parent (where it sits in the structure), and pick its unit type. Build from the top down, so each unit's parent already exists when you add it.

You need at least two units before you can finish.

3. Review & Complete

Check everything looks right, then complete setup. You'll see a confirmation that your structure is ready, with quick links to add users or jump to your dashboard.

Tips & troubleshooting

"Add at least 2 organisation units to complete setup." Setup needs a minimum of two units before it'll let you finish. Add another, then continue.
You don't have to get it perfect now. Setup just gets you started. You can add, edit, move, and delete units and unit types at any time afterwards from their tabs.
The setup steps disappear once you're done. From then on you'll land on the Organisation Units tab instead. There's no need to run setup again.
Creating new unit types. After creating the new unit types, you need to go back, find the correct one, select it for your organisation and then move forward.
